Celebrity Motherhood – Octopulets Mom Joins Ranks

Nadya, mother of 14 children, the last litter being Octuplets, says she wanted a very large family after being an only child. (Note to my friend Rebecca – let this be a lesson to you – have two to prevent your child from longing for 14.)

There were a few odd questions in the Interview. Do you have the right to have 14 children?

Last I heard, we lived in American and we’re allowed to have as many or as few children as we like.

She isn’t on welfare so just shut up about her “right to have children she can’t afford.” (If she were to go on welfare – so is half the country due to the current unemployment crisis so get over it.) This is America – we ALL “have children we can’t afford.” Gimme a break already. We can’t “afford” either one of ours save for the fact that we seem to manage feeding and clothing them and sending them to school and taking them to the Dr. every now and then.

This woman reminds me of Angelina Jolie quite a lot actually. I think it’s the lips, cheeks, hair. And the love of babies born of childhood and adolescent pain and loneliness. It’s a shame her dream doesn’t come with Brad Pitt or Jon Gosselin, or another hot, dedicated father who loves the large family equally.

Her fertility logic – that she wanted to use up the embryos before she quit so they wouldn’t be destroyed or stay frozen – makes sense. I’ve always wondered why people who oppose stem cell research are fine with in-vitro and then throwing away embryos. It has always seemed a contradiction in values to me. There’s a certain logic in resolving the conflict by having them implanted “knowing” that they won’t all make it.

I mean, obviously she was thinking the doctor would implant 6 and 3,4,5 would not survive and she’d increase her family by 1,2, or 3. The odds of the implantation resulting in two split eggs and all the others surviving are less than 1 in a kajillion.

Has to be an Act of God, you just can’t plan this kind of science. One million rich families could try to make this happen and it wouldn’t.

But, who can blame Nadya’s mother for leaving? Her poor mother only wanted one child so that’s what she had. Now she’s been raising 6 children and her crazy single daughter is bringing home 8 tiny babies. Tiny babies are cute an all but they pretty much equal hard labor.

Welcome to the new profession of Celebrity Motherhood Nadya. I wonder if its queens Kate Gosselin and/or Mommy Duggar sent gift baskets or email tips on how to negotiate with PR people and the media? I’m sure she could use the pointers.

This is such a controversial topic. I can’t believe this woman already had six children, and had no means to support them, and yet she wanted even one more. If you believe the media reports she lives with her mom, who has a small house no way equipped for even six children, much less fourteen.

  2. Rebecca says:

And my comment isn’t questioning her right to have kids, because I agree that millions of people have kids they can’t afford, so what’s the point of analyzing that really. It’s her desires that I can’t understand. I know several only children who had none of her professed issues. She is all over the media because her story is so bizarre.

  3. Tracee Sioux says:

It’s pretty dang bizarre alright. Her desire is inexplicable. I understand the desire the have children. I understand the desire to have “more children” and even the desire to have a “large family.” But, 14? Octuplets? Single homeless motherhood?

Maybe her parents spoiled her and told her “you can have anything you want.” Letting her live there and keep reproducing? Should have kicked her out on Kid #2. Then she’d have spend all her time and money trying to give them shelter and health insurance.

I think it’s an Angelina Jolie Complex. Bet you she watches Jon & Kate + 8 and The Duggars.

  4. Rebecca says:

I agree it looks like an Angelina Jolie complex. Like she has this fantasy of serene motherhood. I would think 6 kids already would dispel that fantasy. Oh well. I admit to wanting to know more about this situation.

  5. Staci says:

Nadya’s own mother says she (the grandmother) is the one who cares for the children and pays the bills, and she says it’s killing her. She had to declare bankruptcy not too long ago. Photos show a home that looks dirty and stretched to the limit already. Nadya’s boyfriend (recently revealed to be the father) begged her not to have any more kids and talked at least one doctor out of performing the procedure.

I think big families are great, and no one should tell someone else how many kids to have, but there is something wrong with this picture. Still, I don’t see how criticizing her is going to help much now. Those kids need support and I truly think Nadya needs psychological help.

  6. Tracee Sioux says:

I’d watch the show if TLC did it on their Monday lineup. My kids and I love to watch the Duggars and Gosselins and the Little People.

  7. Rebecca says:

Her publicist just said she does receive foodstamps.

  8. Lain says:

Stupid arse, I cannot believe any woman in their right mind would have that many children. I have a sister in law that had 11 children. The first were twins but after that, she had a baby every 10 months. My brother in law(husband’s brother) and his wife could not afford those kids and he worked 24/7. My husband’s family all 8 of them, brothers & sisters in law plus their parents took care of those kids. Granted the twins are 22yrs old now. It was hard. I can’t see how she is gonna be able to take care of those kids on her own. I saw Dateline last night. That girl has a mental problem if she thinks she doesn’t need help & money to take care of those kids. I think i heard last night that she gets social security checks for three of her kids right now. One for ADD, one for autism and another for something else and that soon those checks will stop coming. I also heard she was doing all this with her student loan money. WHAT!!!!. Check this people, if she got checks (SS) for that, guess what. If any of her octopulets happen to be inflicted with autism, cerebal palsey she will be getting checks for that plus the food stamps. Personally, they should tap the sperm donor for child support because he knew what she was doing and did so willingly. At least that’s what she said and also for the fact that he could possibly be involved in those children’s lives in the future.

  9. Tracee Sioux says:

Well of course she gets food stamps or disability – how else could she possibly take care of them?

She’s a single mother with 8 preemie infants and 6 other children and 3 with disabilities it’s hysterical to think she might get a job or have a job to support them.

It’s literally impossible. And I know medicaid or medicare is going to pay the millions of dollars in medical care she’s going to accrue.

I just can’t work up any “upset” or “judgement” or “indignation” about it.

She’s going to “pay the consequences.” She has 14 children and no money! Its its own justice. It’s own punishment. It’s own consequence.

Put it on TLC! Then she can pay the consequences, we can all watch in hysterical voyeuristic horror and she can hire a couple of masochistic nannies and a psychotherapist to keep it all together. Problem solved.

At least someone finally made Kate Gosselin look like an angel.

  10. Staci says:

I really hope people do step forward to help. Yeah, she’s kinda crazy, but those kids deserve a happy, fulfilling life all the same. Far less worthy people are on public assistance than 8 innocent children.

There is a new website where you can donate:

  11. Rebecca says:

I totally agree Tracee! At least if it was on TLC it’s pretty sure that the children would have their basic needs met.

She said that she spend about $100,000 on fertility treatments. It’s probably debt. And she’s planning to raise them using student loans.

  12. Lain says:

I hope Sallie Mae and all the other student people are looking. I could take two of those babies off of her hand. This woman is not fit to have all these children. I hope Gloria Allred is watching and prepared to step in to take these kids from this woman like she did when Michael Jackson held his baby over that railing a few years back. I wish her luck cause she gonna need it.

  13. kay says:

This woman has some serious emotional/mental issues- don’t Drs. do mental health screenings and background checks into the financial and home situations before doing in-vitro?Even the humane society does that before placing an animal. Maybe the Dr. should have to pay what the government is going to have to dole out in food stamps,Medicaid, Welfare, etc. No wonder our country is broke!
A totally separate issue is how a single woman will cope with this amt of children when they become older kids and teenagers!

  14. Debra Poss says:

By focusing on the mother in the way the media has done, the media is making her into a scapegoat. Let us not forget that it was predatory lending that led to the current economic crises.

The way that the media is sensationalizing her story has placed the attention on the mother, and has led to death threats against her.

The media is very much responsible for those death threats.

The decision the woman made was between her and her doctor. We can question that decision, but as we do, let’s remember to separate ourselves from her and from her story, and to remember the true reason for the economic situation the country is in.

And, let us urge the media not to sensationalize for profit, stories which so greatly impact another person, and which could be fatal for that person, and for that person’s family members.

  15. dee ree says:

    She’s behaving like a self-centered – self-involved- narcissistic – attention seeking, uncaring, spoiled brat.

  16. Lain says:

I’m right there with you Dee Dee. I saw the interview with the possible father on Good Morning Armerica, even he felt sorry for her and is willing to help her. He should be paying child support because he knew she had a problem when she asked for his sperm. What kind experiment was she telling him about that he was willing to give his sperm??? He is currently going through a messy divorce and for custody of his 2 sons with this wife right now. The wife probably knew something was up when this fool kept asking for her husband’s sperm. He was just too emotional to not know what this woman was doing. Good luck to the both of them.

  17. dee ree says:

Thanks Lain, we have a perfect right to express our opinions, because quess who’s gonna pay for this for the next 18 – 25 years. US!!!

The taxpayers will pay for them from conception thru final education, and if any have critical health issues, we’ll pay support them all their lives.

    I’m appalled

  18. Paul says:

Just let her take her fourteen kids and go live some place all by themselves and when it comes time to feed and clothe them she will do it all by herself. And when the older kids start demanding more of her and she has to get up every two to four hours to feed the newborns all by herself then so be it. And where is she going to find a car that will be able to eguip fourteen carseats when they are all off to the DR. office or to school or shopping. And how many fraudulent school loans do you think that she will get to finance her monthly bills? And what about all of the other previous births does she owe the hospitals and other medical bills as well. And what is her plan now that the hospital is demanding payment from the last batch of children that she had is she going to stiff them just like she plan to. Every time that she replys to accusations she lies and she does it because she thinks that the american public is stupid and that she is the only smart one. She now has fourteen children and no father and why because she hates men. She never talks about her own father nor do you ever see them talking together. The DR. Phil show was a joke he sucked in every thing that she said as if it was the truth when in fact it all was nothing but lies even her mother validated that when she was on. And as a matter of fact he is the only person that did an interview with her that fell for her and set up a donation web site where as all of the rest didn’t do a thing and none of them got taking in but him. All of those children should be adopted out and this time instead of working at a mental hospital she can now be a fulltime patient. And who would want to donate any money that would go into her hands anyway. The people of California need to stick together and beat her at her own game. I even sent a fax to your governor about how she is comitting an act of piracy against the state by forcing you all to pay for and to raise her fourteen children.

  19. Dee Ree says:

    Paul,
    Yes,
    right-on
    yep
    yep
    yes siree

she should have had a spanking when she was about 2 yrs old and been taught that the world does NOT revolve around her idiotic little person

  20. Robert says:

Many personality disordered people have lots of kids to have plenty of mirrors, to fill up the void, to keep themselves busy, to have different objects that can play out their intenal dramas… Jolie and this woman are quite alike… and on a funny note Paris Hilton wants to be friends with Jolie, looks like she is attracting a lot of unhealthy people, wonder why ;)

  21. bianca says:

what were the weights of each of the babies?

    just curious………………..
