Challenging Myself To Overcome the First Date Jitters

I haven’t heard from my boyfriend for a long time again, so dating someone new is something that I’m giving a lot of thought to. I love my boyfriend, but I don’t like him very much. He really isn’t much a boyfriend anymore, at all. He’s a poor friend, at the very least.
My friend, Jackie, went on a lunch date the other day and while she did not spark with the guy, she did say that he was nice and someone she’d want for a friend. She said that he seemed my type. For some reason, this really caught my interest. I guess it’s because I trust Jackie, she has a great built-in BS detector and if this guy did not set it off, he’s probably okay. Now she is trying to decide how to approach him with the idea of maybe meeting me. (I nagged her a little). She only went on the one date with him, maybe it’s not appropriate….. I don’t know. What do you readers think?
I like to meet new people, but when it comes to dating new people, I get very nervous. Nervous is not the greatest frame of mind to be in when meeting a new man for the first time, but if it wasn’t the first time, I wouldn’t be so nervous. Right? One of those Catch 22s for sure.
With that in mind, the first date jitters, I decided to take on The Snarkstress’s Challenge and update my look.
First I purchased a couple of cute, casual, but stylish tops - this is one of them ……………..

click here to see the other one, then I read over this list of First Date Beauty Tips, that Shannon, of Makeup Minute has gathered.
Thanks for the help, ladies! I was really in need of an update.
What do you do to get ready for a first date? What do you think of my two First Date top choices?

Gorgeous top! That’s great that you are updating your closet. It’s so much fun!
I’m very excited to wear it. I hate to pass up a good challenge. ;D
I love both those tops–and I’ll bet with your hair color the green is smashing on you!
First date wear: It seems like such a long time ago that I’ve been on a first date but for my last one I believe I wore… whatever I was wearing to work that day as I was meeting him after work and before I went to my shift at the Y — and that’s pretty much been my philosophy all along–I don’t wear make-up unless I’m performing somewhere so what they see is what they get (although I spend inordinate amounts of time on my hair)… and if they don’t like what I wear normally… too bad.
You’ve got great hair, Verna. Was your first date a coffee date? I’m not sure if you will check back here, so I’m going to go see what you’ve been up to.
Yeah–since we did meet “on-line” we met for “coffee” and a walk around the beach!
A walk is a great idea. I have gone on two walk first dates and it really helps with that having to sit across from and stare at a stranger thing.
I love that shirt, Michelle! So pretty.
Thanks, Heather. I hope it is going to fit okay. Eek!
