There seems to be a theme going on in my email inbox today, and it’s dealing with young people and mental health – and I feel a civic duty to pass it all along to you.
First, Mental Health America (MHN) sends me Deliberate self-harm can signal suicide risk: “The characteristics of young patients who commit acts of deliberate self-harm vary widely, but the risk of suicide is very high in this population, UK investigators report.”
Then, the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) sends me notification of an online chat scheduled for today: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 4 p.m. Central Standard Time.
The DBSA chat is an author chat with Ross Szabo, the Director of Youth Outreach for the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign. (I highly recommend checking it out if you’re not familiar with it.)
Anyway, register for the chat. I may be there, depending on how work goes. If not, take notes and fill me in!
