I can’t remember the last time I made Apple Crisp. I make apple pie during Thanksgiving and whenever we’re craving for it but I think the last time I made Apple Crisp was like 5 years ago. It has been so long that I can’t remember how to make it.

Thanks to Wisconsin Cheese who sent me a recipe to try with cheese no less. I’m definitely making this Cheddar Apple Crisp this weekend.

Cheddar Apple Crisp

Ingredients:
4 cups apples (crisp and tart such as Braeburn), peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 plus 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed, divided
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup (4 ounces) Wisconsin Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded

Cooking Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine apples, lemon juice and 1/3 cup brown sugar. Arrange in buttered 8- or 9-inch square pan. Combine remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, rolled oats, flour and ground cinnamon in a large bowl; cut in butter until mixture is crumbly; gently mix in cheese. Sprinkle evenly over apple mixture.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream, garnish with shredded cheese.
