Chemical in baby bottles may cause cancer

bottle-feeding The National Toxicology Program confirmed a warning that has been in the news last year.

A chemical known as BPA ( bisphenol A) may cause early puberty and prostate and breast cancer. It is used in many baby bottles and the plastic lining of of infant formula. – Reuters

As a polycarbonate compound, it is found in almost everything, “from baby bottles to water cooler jugs. It is in bicycle helmets, CDs and the lining inside tin cans”, I quote from ABCnews.

The plastic industry says there’s no cause for alarm. But of course. The FDA is looking into this, so the verdict isn’t in yet. But I thought we should know about this now, anyway.

If this is true then why isnt there a recall yet, i am expecting and i just bought all new bottles and i dont want to be feeding my child something that can hurt it. Is it all bottles or just a select few?

Jessica, there’s no recall yet because the tests were done on animals. I would think once the gov’t has conclusive results on the BPA’s impact to human health, then we’ll hear more about this.
What I did with mine was throw away old and cloudy-looking bottles.
Which bottles – you’ll probably have to call the manufacturer and ask.
