China has now approved adoptions to qualified mainland families. There are currently only 88 orphans from the Sichuan Province earthquake because of the 532 children who lost parents 240 were under the age of 14 and most of them have qualified parents or guardians.

Parents who meet the regulations for adoption can apply through civil affairs to adopt the children.

However, according to the guidelines, only childless Chinese over 30 can be considered.
