If you’re a maternity care provider (midwife, nurse, obstetrician), public health professional and/or childbirth advocate, you may want to sign a circulating childbirth statement.
According to the blog, Our Bodies, Ourselves, the childbirth statements spells out the desire and need for us to preserve safe choices in childbirth and to respect each woman and her needs during this time. It reviews the need for vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC), availability of midwives, and the availability of homebirths where possible. They are also pushing for the de-medicalization of childbirth.
You can find the statement at the Our Bodies, Ourselves blog, on this page: Pregnancy and Birth. At the end of the piece is a section where you can sign too.
