Christmas Ornament Bowl Centerpiece

This project called for a frosted glass bowl, but I couldn’t find one in my price range so I improvised. Instead of a using a frosted bowl or frosting a plain bowl I used a regular glass bowl. I chose a footed or pedestal bowl and I applied rub ons. Rub ons, for anyone who doesn’t know are small graphics on a sheet of paper or cellophane. You need to take a popsicle stick and rub the graphic from the paper onto the surface you are decorating. The package will have all of the instructions, it’s very easy.

Here is what you will need to get started:
- A glass bowl or frosted bowl
- 12-15 ornaments, depending on the size of your bowl (I used a couple of packs of glitter Christmas balls from the dollar store)
- Battery operated mini lights (I used a strand of 10)
- Rub On decorations for glass (I chose to use snow flakes)
Clean your glass bowl and let it dry thoroughly. After drying I clean the outside surface again with an ammonia window cleaner. It will help the rubs on to stick.
Apply your rub ons according to the package directions. After cutting them down to size, you can tape the individual icons to the glass before using the stick to rub them on.
Before placing the ornaments/Christmas balls in the bowl, place the mini lights in and arrange around each ball as you add them to the bowl.
If it looks like you don’t have enough ornaments you’ll have to improvise a little more. You can place some shred in the bottom of the bowl to lift the ornaments so that they will sit a little higher in the bowl. Play around with it a little bit until you get it to look just right.
I am sorry to say that I don’t think that the picture does project justice, it is much nicer in person. After completing this project, I lit the minis in the bowl and it really looked beautiful. So, give it a try!
