As in many other countries, people in England who are living with chronic pain are not always getting the treatment they need. The Chronic Pain Policy Coalition (CPPC) was established to promote better treatment for people who have long-term chronic pain such as severe back pain or depression and it’s estimated that there are about 7.8 million in England who fall into this category.
Other areas in the United Kingdom have taken steps towards helping those with chronic pain. In Wales, there is already national strategy that has been outlined for the management of chronic pain and Scotland published a report called ‘Getting to GRIPS’ in 2003.
