In a study conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US, the city of Dallas joined the list of the top 10 clean energy purchasers. It placed ninth on the list. And what made the state take the 9th spot is the fact that of the total energy that the city uses, a huge 40% is actually wind power.
Richard Greene is the regional administrator of EPA and in an advisory he sent out, he informed, “Texas leads the nation in wind power production, and Dallas and Houston are leading the way in showing other cities how green power can help protect the environment. By shifting to wind and other renewable power sources, cities can cut greenhouse gas emissions and change the way we generate energy.”
Tom Leppert is Dallas City’s mayor and he shared that going green for power is the right thing to practice and it is good that they are starting with that right now. He continued, “The City of Dallas understands that each of us - every individual, every business, every government, must act to protect our environment.”
