Committed to the Process

There are days when I sit down to write in my journal and I feel like I’m going nowhere. My days feel similar and the information isn’t anything new or startling. There feels to be no surprises as I write. It’s a bit like treading water.
On days like this I remind myself that I am committed to the process of journal writing. The very act of sitting there to write something, no matter how mundane, affirms that I am important. Allowing myself room to express whatever is on my mind makes it easy when there is something I want to write about.
It’s like leaving a door open. The act of sitting and writing triggers my brain into reflecting, thinking, digging within. Some days it doesn’t amount to much, but other days the emotions and thoughts just pour out. The regular practice of showing up goes a long way in this process.
Dull days and good days are all part of this process. To get the most out of it, you need to commit your mind to writing in your journal as often as you comfortably can.
