Concert Tickets for HIV and STI Tests

Getting people to go for sexually transmitted infection testing is difficult enough. Getting young adults who feel that they’re invincible to go is even harder. But, a xchng_bloodunique method in Houston, TX, may be doing the trick for some: Hip Hop HIV testing.

This unique program targets young adults, particularly African Americans, because their HIV and STI rate is climbing. According to this article, Hip-hop concert serves as lure for HIV screenings :

Everyone who receives the tests, one hour of education and their results will get tickets from KBXX-FM (97.9, The Box) to a July 11 concert at the George R. Brown Convention Center featuring former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett, Port Arthur’s Bun B and a lengthy roster of performers.

The testing includes a check for syphilis, a growing problem within sexually active young adults.

What do you think? Is this a good idea?
