When my son gets home from school, he thinks he’s starving! So I try to have some quick, healthy snacks on hand. I prefer whole food snacks whenever possible.
Here are some of my favorite recipes.
- Fruity Kabobs- These are easy and your children will have fun helping you make them.
- Blueberry Oat Bran Muffins- Make these ahead of time and store them in the freezer, thaw a few at a time as you need them.
- Homemade Popsicles- Your kids would love to help you make these, this is another snack you can make ahead and store in the freezer.
- Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits- You don’t have to add berries, add whatever fruit is in season, or whatever’s in your fruit bowl. Peaches, blackberries, bananas, or apples would all be yum!
- Trail Mix- Another fun and easy for kids to make snack.
- Homemade Granola- Stores right in the pantry in an air tight container. You can add it to yogurt, or pour milk over it and eat it like cereal.
- Fruit Smoothies- Cold and fruity! Perfect for this time of year.
If you don’t have any pre-prepared snacks on hand you can also grab some fresh fruit, vegetable sticks, applesauce, or healthy whole grain cereal.
What’s your favorite after school snack?
