Cooking With Kids: Make Your Own Trail Mix

I’m always looking for trail mix recipes the whole family can snack on. Thanks to my blogging partner Sandy, I found a couple new recipes at Monkey See.

I hope to include a segment here once or twice a week on cooking with kids. With kid friendly recipes, and ways to get your children involved in making healthy meal and snack choices.

Whenever I look at trail mix in the grocery store, I read the ingredients tab. Many of them have extra things added (preservatives, and high fructose corn syrup to name a few). I usually put them back on the shelf, and buy the ingredients to make my own.

Here are a couple trail mix recipes for healthy summer snacking. I like the second recipe better. I think both would be kid friendly. Invite your children into the kitchen to help you measure and pour.

Do you have a favorite trail mix recipe? Please share.
