Cover that Text Book

Text booksIn an attempt to preserve the life of text books, most schools require that students cover them. Some schools are requiring students to purchase the stretchable fabric book covers that just slip on, but others will allow students to cover books themselves.

I remember carefully crafting book covers out of brown paper bags, white craft paper and cool gift wrapping scraps. For those of you looking for some step by step directions for making your own book covers, here are two good tutorials:

Hey! You should get Thrifty Mommy to link to this post. It’s a great little money saver.

I wondered! I’ve been seeing those book covers everywhere with the back-to-school items and could not figure out why they were there. I guess that requirement hasn’t hit the Minneapolis Public Schools. Yet.

Hey Char. I remember making my own brown paper bag book covers when I was in school. We got extra credit for covering them. Hopefully the new stretchable ones hold up better than the paper bag ones.
