Crafty Christmas Fun – Tim Holtz and the 12 Tags of Christmas

Last year, Tim Holtz had a great free online tutorial called the 12 tags of Christmas. This year, he’s doing it again. The tags are little works of art and make gorgeous ornaments if you can’t bring yourself to put them on gifts. I’m thinking they’d also look awesome as a banner. I don’t make the exact tag, but I hunt around for things in my studio that will look similar and use his techniques for inspiration. It really is a lot of fun.
In addition, he has a giveaway each day, so even if you never get around to making the tags, you may be able to comment your way to a nifty free gift!
Tim’s style is not cutesy and pink, but it has a lovely sophistication that makes me feel like a grown up when I’m working on the tags. Then, I go and make something adorable or kitschy with the kids and I’m back to normal.
