Crafty Wednesday – Caterpillar

This is one of the easiest crafts to do with your kids – turn an egg carton into a cute caterpillar. Depending on your child’s age, you may have to help with the cutting, but if they’re old enough to use scissors they should do fine on their own (with some supervision).

Egg Carton Caterpillar

All you need is a egg carton, and remove the lid. Cut down the middle, length-wise. Get out the paint and let your child paint the caterpillar any colors they choose. My daughter did this particular one in the photo at school, and they were using the fabulous Very Hungry Caterpillar as inspiration, so they went with a green body and red head.

Once the paint has dried, they can use a marker to draw on a face. Use pipe cleaners cut in smaller pieces to poke through the top of the head for antennae and there you go! Their very own caterpillar!
