The title of this blog, A Creative Journal, is what I really hope will become of your journal/s as well as my own. But what does creative mean to you? Before you rush to the dictionary, spend some time defining the words creative, creativity and creation. Find out what you feel these words mean. Once you’ve done that, list the ways you are creative. Try to go beyond the obvious. List things like cooking and encouraging people, as these can be outlets for creativity, too. I hope you enjoy using this journal writing prompt today. It comes courtesy of the Imagination Prompt Generator on Creativity Portal.

So glad to have found your site!
Most blogs, I’m finding, are not cast as personal journals- perhaps because that takes a lot of thinking and application.
I enjoyed your reflection about “diary” versus “journaling.” I’ve been journal-writing for about 14 years, and refer to it as entering “The Archival Record of My Pilgrimage.” It all started with filling a blank book during a long stay in a Benedictine monastery. And my jottings have gone forth from there!
I got into blogging, as a companion (though) not a redundancy) to journaling almost 2 years ago. With blogging, as you know, adding photos is much easier. The two media (handwriting and the web) are so syntactically different, that the two rarely sound alike.
Thanks again. I’ll add your link to my blog, and will keep reading!

Heather, have you read any of the journaling books I’ve listed on my blog? Please comment there if you have any tips on which one to buy!
Hi Hanna,
Oh cool. I’ll go and have a look sometime today or tomorrow. I love looking at book lists.
Hi Speculator,
Thanks so much for your comment. It’s exciting that you have been on this creative journey for this long. I’ll appreciate any input you have on any of the entries I make. Welcome and thank again for responding.
