creative ways to make your own buttons

January 15, 2008 by Chloe Findlay-Harder

My mom has been working on a new winter jacket for a few days now – and ended up not liking how the button holes turned out.  Ah, the joys of working with heavy wool melton!

My DH took a look at what she had done and suggested making a Chinese button knot to close the jacket, instead of a big, chunky button.   By the way, he also found another good tutorial site for making button knots!

But those still weren’t quite right… so check out what it turned into :-)

  1. I am so delighted with the new closure, and doubly so, since your wonderful husband had the vision and creativity to make the suggestion! He’s got great design sense as well as fabulous taste. (he picked you, which shows his awesome discernment)
