Crucial lesson learned #2 – The importance of nail care

On of the first lessons my son taught me was to not hold him while wearing work clothing. He will puke on it. Apparently khakis are a magnet for baby spit-up, and really hold in that rich cheese flavor.

He taught me something new this weekend; the importance of nail care. Now that his grab reflex is developing in tandem with his coordination to reach out and grab things, he poses an imminent danger to my face. He reached out to touch my face and took a chunk of my lower lip with him. He left behind a small trickle of blood and a lesson learned in the place where that skin used to be.

I will check the length of my child’s fingernails before putting my face near him.

Lesson learned, instructor.
