Curt Schilling still saves a seat for dad
As the Red Sox roll towards the World Series, I thought I would share this article about pitcher Curt Schilling’s relationship with his father before his passing.
Schilling and his father were very close and his dad actually never got to see him into the majors. However, Schilling owes much of his personal and professional success to his father.
“My father was the glue that held us together. When he died, I kind of lost my family.”
According to an entry on www.fathersandfamilies.com, in a July 2005 interview, “Schilling revealed that in every difficult situation in life, he first asks what his father would have expected of him. In every game he starts, Curt reserves a seat for his father.”
The article is worth a read and it’s nice to see an athlete giving a shout out to dad instead of only saying “hi mom.”

It is refreshing to see a pro athelete love his family more than fame and fortune. Curt is one of my favorite players and I respect him even more after finding out how much he loves his dad.
