Daily Affirmations and Alexander Technique

Years ago, when I had just been diagnosed with CFS, my brother gave me this mirror for Christmas. Which is just about the nicest thing I ever got, since I most certainly wasn’t “looking really great”. However, this mirror did start me down on the daily affirmation path. Yet, I rarely say to myself the mantra that this mirror suggests…I do use different affirmations however. Like this one that I “borrowed” from my grandfather,

Oh Boy, Am I Enthusiastic!!!

When I started taking Alexander Technique lessons (keep in mind that I have only had a few), my mantras started to change direction, ever so slightly. And now, several times a day, I can be heard saying the following:

Free The Neck, Free The Neck, Free The Neck, Free The Neck……

I will freely admit to you, that this way of thinking has done wonders for my guitar playing. And I do believe that I am a bit taller.

The Alexander Technique has helped me with my playing too – you can find out more about it at http://alexandertechnique.com

By the way, you might want to experiment with “free MY (instead of “the”) neck”

    Hi Bill,

Excellent suggestion! I tend to interchange words a lot (such as ‘the’ and ‘my’. I should stop it, its a really bad habit :)

I will try to be more conscious of which words I use.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
