Declutter Your Christmas Day

Here are some easy ways to declutter your Christmas day festivities.
1) Grab a few boxes with stay open lids – two large, one small. Decorate your boxes for the holiday with wrap, stamps, or stickers. Place by your Christmas tree. On Christmas day appoint one or two people as recycle collectors. During the gift opening event, have the collectors sort wrapping paper into one box, bows and ribbon into another, and tags in the small box. Close them up at the end of the day, and you’ve got three handy boxes of supplies ready to go for next year.
2) Grab a few more nice bins or boxes. Give one to everyone on Christmas morning. As folks open gifts have them keep them in their box if possible (i.e. not breakable). This keeps stuff up off the floor (no slips and trips) and keep danger items out of little hands if you have a baby or toddler.
3) If you’re the parent of a small child, and still want to do holiday thank you cards, be sure to have a small paper pad on hand, so you can jot down who gave your child what – your little one won’t remember everyone, and neither will you.
4) For your holiday meal, serve items in stackable, good looking square containers with lids. Place lids under the dish during the meal. After the meal, this makes clean up a snap. Pop the lids on leftovers and stack them in the fridge.
Next up we’ll look at some handy and pretty serving and storage containers to go with tip number 4.
