Decorating With Fall Flowers

Fall flowers are so lovely. I am especially fond of Dwarf Plumbago and the big spider mums. Add small tree branches covered in colorfuly leaves and you’ll have a spectacular arrangement. I like to bring a few vases of these favorites inside every year. However, my favorite thing to do with fall flowers is to set up outdoor decorations. Here are a few things you can try when you are decorating a porch or deck with fall flowers:

- Don’t like those plastic pots your mums came in? Hollow out a small pumpkin and use it as a pot cover.
- Pull an old, leaky kids’ wagon up by the steps and fill it with soil. Then plant it with a variety of mums and a few fall kale and cabbage plants. Add some Dwarf Plumbago and other trailing plants to soften the edges. You can move the wagon from place to place as summer plants die out and leave bare spots in the yard.
- Plant a hay bale with a few mums. I like to make a hollow in the bale to hide the plastic pot.
