decorative covers for casts

I’m not normally a person to make decorative covers for things, but when a sad 8 year old boy asks – why not :-)

My neighbor’s young son just broke his arm a few days ago and really wanted to get a camouflage cast (to match his dad’s uniform, of course)   Unfortunately, the hospital wasn’t able to make one and so he was feeling pretty blue.

I happened to have some camo material and made a cast cover.

It’s really simple to make, just measure how long the cast is, and around the top & bottom of the cast.  I sewed a tube with channels on both ends.  I ran some elastic through, cut it to fit – and presto!  You’ve got yourself a cover for a cast.

And better yet, there’s and eight year old boy next door who’s tickled pink to match his dad :-)

That is so sweet could you do that in pink with frills and stuff maybe some rhinestones?

My 3 1/2 year old has an arm cast for the summer and I’m looking for camo, stars & stripes, etc to add variety to his life and wardrobe. Its difficult to find this type thing on the internet, but I should just have a friend with a sewing machine make something like you did. You really should refine it and start a business!
