Dee lost her battle

Some of you were following the progress of my greyhound Dee. She was adopted into our family in November 2007 after almost 9 years of being in kennels as a brood mom.

She came to us with a very old break in her leg that had gotten severely arthritic. Despite trying different things, we were never able to ease her pain completely. And then, she recently fell ill. This evening at 8:15 PM EST, her soul left this earth and has gone to join my other beloved dogs, one being her half-brother, Oscar, who died one year ago this month, `10 days before his fifth birthday.

Thanks to all those who emailed me with suggestions or left comments for ways to help Dee. My heart is broken right now. Dee would have been 10 years old in December.
