Dental school teaching hypnosis

Going to the dentist is very traumatic for some people. So much so, that they will endure many problems with their teeth rather than getting them fixed. Besides the obvious issues (tooth ache, infection), poor oral health can also affect your overall health (5 great reasons to visit your dentist regularly, Ecomics issues may prevent dental care).

Dental research has been working on finding less painful or uncomfortable procedures and they’ve been working hard at finding ways to replace the dreaded needle. For a while now, some patients have been able to manage with hypnosis, but it’s usually self-hypnosis or with the help of a hypnotist. Now, a dental school in California is teaching their students about hypnosis and hypnosis techniques, in an effort to help reduce the need of needles or even general anesthesia for some procedures. The 2-day workshop is attended by dentists from all over North America as they try to improve the care they provide. You can read more about this in the article, USC School Of Dentistry Teaches Hypnosis As An Alternative To Novocaine.
