Depressed Women at Increased Risk for Binge DrinkingTeenagers and college kids aren’t the only ones at risk of binge drinking. A study released earlier this month suggests that binge drinking (having five or more drinks on a single occassion) is more common in those who suffer from depression, particularly depressed women, than in the general population.

  1. Since I control diabetes completely via diet, two drinks is my max. I used to drink A LOT. I don’t miss it. I don’t like the feeling of drunk — I like the process of drinking, the taste, the smell, the social environment. But I can get that with a drink or two drinks and then switching to non-alcholohic. You really only taste the first one anyway.

I believe it — I think depressed women are more likely to binge drink, hoping for that first high of a buzz to make them feel better. But the crash (not to mention the hangover) would make it worse.
