Diary of My Exhausted Adrenals…Week One

So…What I have decided to do is to share my journey to energizing my adrenals with you. Am I cool or what?

This way, if you are the adventurous sort, you can come along for the ride, doing what I am doing and we can compare notes..or if you want to wait and see then you can do that too.

The first thing that i found out is that Adrenal Exhaustion is common in this high stress world.  Here are the symptoms:

  • Excessive fatigue and exhaustion
  • You get enough sleep but are always tired.
  • Overwhelmed
  • Feeling rundown
  • Craving salty and sweet foods
  • You start waking up and feel most energetic in the evening…even if you are a “morning person”
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Low stamina
  • Slow to recover from injury or  illness
  • Difficulty concentrating, brain fog, “mommy brain”
  • poor digestion
  • Low immune function;colds, flu, viruses
  • Food or environmental allergies
  • PMS or difficulties that develop during menopause
  • Consistent low blood pressure
  • Extreme sensitivity to cold

Here is a very eye opening chart about adrenal problems vs. thyroid problems.  Lucky me, the nutritionist thinks I am having issues with both.

So.  Here is where I am:

  • Severely anemic.
  • Need to lose 20 lbs left from Kyrie (who is now 5)
  • Hair breaking off, I lost 6 inches off my hair last year, unevenly and had to have it cut shoulder length.
  • Ridgy nails
  • Cold all the time…very cold.  I wear sweaters when it is 80 degrees.  Air conditioned stores are uncomfortable to the point of being painful.
  • Never hungry. I still have the really awful tendency of eating once every couple of days.  It doesn’t cause me to lose weight..and no, I don’t snack.  I need to eat regularly if for no other reason than the gross pills I am taking.

So…that is where I am…This is what I am doing this week.

Total Woman Vitamins

Hemaplex Iron

Michaels Adrenal Factors

Take 1 pill 3x daily with meals.  Now, that is a great price on the Adrenal Factors.  I bought some today at the health food store and it cost me 18.99.

According to my research if you have adrenal exhaustion you should not work out, but should walk about three times a week at a moderate pace.  Any stress on the body at this point is only adding to the problem and that includes working out..

so there is ONE bit of happy news.

Over the next couple of months I will weigh once a week to see if there is any weight loss and I will journal what I am doing and what I am feeling once a week, as well as any significant changes…like if I turn green or suddenly develop the ability to breathe fire.   I am not changing my diet yet, other than eating something 3x a day… I am still in the research stages of the diet aspect.

The other thing I am doing is thanking God that He is healing my adrenals and thyroid function.  If you do not pray then I suggest you affirm your body in a positive way, send your adrenals good vibes, or thank them for working so hard.

Is anyone planning on following along?

Yes Ma’am. Following along. I picked up some adrenal supplements at the health food store. Love the part about not working out. LOL! I’m not cold like you, but just about everything else is there – except I have healthy hair. But it falls out. So, I am in on the journey.

  2. Marye Audet says:

    O.k..Heather..or should i call you Frodo? :)

  3. Heather says:

Ugh. Maybe you should call me Gollum instead, as that is who I sound like. I’ve been down with some stupid virus for the past week and other than thinking I’m going to have to actually USE an inhaler to clear my lungs, I’m doing better, but I have not done a single healthy thing for my adrenals. (Sleep! I’ve slept. ALOT!)

Anyhow, what did you say you did with my ring? ;)

  4. Marye Audet says:

Heather…trilight herbs has something called lungs plus…it is amazing stuff..and not too expensive..try it before you go to the inhaler.

  5. Heather says:

Marye – when I went to pick up the inhaler is was 95.00. I bypassed it. :) I’ve been steaming essential oils instead. I’ll have to check out the lungs plus. In fact I’m going to Google it right now. Thanks!

  6. Marye Audet says:

    95 bucks? WHOA!

  7. Beth says:

I am interested in learning more about adrenal fatigue. I am a mom of autistic twins and another typical child.(9 boys and 12girl) I am tired constantly and looking at no stress relief in sight. Any suggestions?
