Now *that* was a civilized world, before the commercialization of the Internet opened it to spammers and destroyed it: asynchronous, go-at-your-own-leisurely-pace, and you could filter out the jerks by *plonking* them onto your killfile. I did not like how the techy guy used TannersDad blog post on the day which mentions orgs I do not agree with. Still have to sort through the prize info to let the donors know. My son missed his school work online that day, but did offline work, and today I wasted several hours at SSI unaware the worker was on jury duty, so now rescheduling I have the slideshow that was put together by a member of twitter (pfanderson) on my blog. It took me back to my old irc days and reminded me why I gave it up and find email more my speed. Would I again? Maybe, but certainly not often. I think that it might be more helpful to have different topics in different discussion areas, but it was definitely not boring!
