Diet Pills Abound!

xenadrine_efx.jpgI went into GNC today in my local mall to have a look around – sometimes I see or read about a supplement I want to buy, so it never hurts to look. However, what caught my eye were the shelves and shelves of one diet pill after another (they even had boxes of Alli).
Years ago, I was a diet pill junkie, and spent a lot of time researching each one as it came out. Now it’s been so long that there are about 20 new ones I’ve never even heard of.
I assume most people realize these don’t work – if they did, obesity wouldn’t be the problem it is today. However, diet pills are big sellers, whether they produce results or not.
I’ve learned now that the healthiest route is diet and exercise, and that endless amounts of pills won’t make anything thinner but my wallet (although I was really hopeful for awhile!)
What diet pills have you tried, or have you tried any? What were your results? Let me know in the comments!

I’m 5′4″ and used to weigh 230 lb. I had my thyroid checked and found out it wasn’t working, so my doctor put me on Synthroid. After my TSH level was corrected, I put myself on a very strict 1,500 calorie a day diet, exercise, and used the OLD Metabolife to get down to 130 lb. It actually did work very well to help me cut down on cravings/hunger and gave me the energy to exercise. Since it’s been off the market I regained some of the weight and even with the 1,500 calorie diet and exercise, the weight isn’t coming off like it did the last time.

    Hi Trish,
I’m guessing the old Metabolife had ephedra in it? Some say that was the best diet supplement they ever took and don’t agree with it going off the market. It accounted for a lot of weight lost – however, some people had problems from taking it.
If the weight is not coming off like it did, maybe you could get your TSH level checked again. Hope this helps!
