Diet Tales Of A Diabetic… What’s Your Style?

So, I received some samples of a new organic frozen food product. I am suppose to be giving them a try. They are not available on the east coast as of yet, but I would assume that they will be expanding their services. I plan on doing a full write up on the product after my family gets through more of the flavors that were sent. My hubby ate the ginger chicken with beans and some type of whole grain rice like product the other night.
Why did I not taste it myself you ask? Well, the carbs were 57g, calories 550, and even though the protein was 38g and the fiber was 9g, I still couldn’t bring myself to eat it. The foods are advertised as wholesome totally organic foods that are heart healthy and diabetic friendly, as well as satisfying. No doubt in my mind that they are somewhat heart healthy, after all they are frozen which means the sodium content is high, but diabetic friendly? The company is Organic Bistro.
Now, I am not giving them a bad review. I am curious to know what you all think about that nutritional content though? How do you watch your diet? Are you a strict carb counter or do you look at the carb, fiber, protein combo, or just at the sugars? Do you prefer the balanced food pyramid?
For me personally, I would never eat something that had 57g’s of carbs ever, never ever. Unless it was a big ol’ hunk of cheesecake, ahh beautiful cheesecake! Focus Kendra. I prefer to keep my meals to around 35-40 carbs, 3 times a day, and 2 snacks to around 10 carbs.
Just like everyone, I have bad days, but I try really hard to stick to my diet. It works for me. When I get of track, my sugars immediately go up, up, up! So tell me, what is your diet plan?
By the way, my husband said that the frozen wholesome organic meal tasted like a whole lot of nothing. He was running for the Old Bay seasoning within 2 minutes. Haha…
