Disabled Animals Have A Sanctuary
Spirit the paralyzed Yorkie.
It’s amazing to me how many people I learn about since having started The Pet Set, who were like me, in that they once had a corporate career path, but decided to leave that world in order to work with or around or for dogs (and many other animals).

Steve Smith and Alayne Maker did just that when they began The Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary — 160 acres of beautiful property which they have developed and dedicated themselves to helping disabled animals.
According to Steve and Alayne, these are the animals who are the least likely to be adopted and the most likely to be euthanized in traditional shelters. The ranch is now home to nearly 80 animals, more than half of them blind.
How inspiring. I think The Pet Set has found a new group to partner with. Look at how beautiful it is.

Kim,
you guys are such lovely people.
I wonder if they would let people volunteer there, when its vacation time.
They are incredibly inspiring. I am going to go check them out some more!!!
Hi Laura,
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the kind words.
I think they are looking for all the help they can get, either financially or through volunteer work.
This one makes sence “One’s first step in wisdom is to kuesstion everything – and one’s last is to come to terms with everything.”
I am going to be takign care of a 7week old chihuahua puppy who was born without most of his front legs. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats of my own and I was wondering if there was a way I could get some help in finding him a place to call his forever home. I have no issues taking care of him till then…but its come to my attention that his paths are me or the needle
