diving into Skinny Bitch

Skinny BitchMy last post about Skinny Bitch attracted a lot of great discussion and comments (some of which I will address individually in later posts). At that point I had only read a couple of reviews of the book. With more and more positive reviews coming in, I decided to pick it up myself. After all, how often does a vegan diet book come out that promises to be a fun read, too?

I bought the book in Dublin last week (aaaaah, I love giant English bookstores!), and started it on the plane home. So far it’s been a very quick read, with a mildly amusing style, but not much new information for me. I supposed it’s more aimed at the new-to-vegetarianism market. But I’ll finish reading it and let you know what I think.

  1. I can’t wait to read your review. I still haven’t had a chance to buy it and read it for myself.

This lil` book changed my life..for the better! I have always been interested in Vegetarianism..and luckily have pursued this lifestyle..and now i`m vegan. I will never go back! Loved the book ,it was straight up! I enjoyed it so much. It was simple, but yet meaningful. It changed me..

I agree it’s suited best for people very new to veganism. But I don’t think my friends who have read it had any clue it was even about that! Still, they’ve made some great changes and are more aware now, more power to ‘em.

Because it’s positioned as a DIET book, I suspect it will be purchased by people most interested in the latest greatest tips and tricks to lose weight. But I say, so what! There’s a lot of really incredible information in this book that they might not read otherwise.

I read it in about an hour and passed it on to a friend and she’ll be doing the same. If nothing else, it’s an enjoyable read, and they walk away a little more enlightened.

I read the book and it also changed my eating habits — I’m a vegan now too! I found it quite entertaining, but since I am a new vegan I did find a lot of the information quite helpful. I am so happy that I read it and was positively effected by it! Not everyone takes it that way (my sister for one!), but for me it was great.

I started reading the book this afternoon and finished it in 4 hours. I could not put it down. It was absolutely fabulous and has given me an entire new view on my body and what goes into it. It’s informative and classic hilarious.

I read the book and felt compelled to stop eating meat immediately. I feel very influenced by the chapters that relate to the slaughehouse. I cannot handle putting one more piece of meat in my mouth. This book is very monumental. For someone like me, who has struggled with many diets and as an athelete, it the right choice is clear. My husband and I have changed our lifestyles and we will benefit in the future I am sure!

WOW! That’s what I have to say after reading this book! I have 3 young daughters and I am trying very hard to alter our eating after reading this book. What I will say is that in order to change your eating habits you really have to become EXTREMELY good at reading labels> Organis doesn’t mean fat free and that’s the mistake I think some people make.

  8. ERIN says:

I have been a vegetarian for 16 years, but have never been able to be a vegan. After reading Skinny Bitch, being a vegan has been easy. I loved the book!!!
