DNA Direct and Genetic Testing Through The Web Video

PBS affiliate KQED in San Francisco produced this wonderful video on genetic testing. Almost from the start, I was tearing up when they introduced Jodi who tested positive for a BRCA1 mutation and subsequently had a oophorectomy and double mastectomy. I just want to give her a big hug!

The segment discusses not just genetic testing, but also the importance of family history and genetic counseling. And the company of focus is DNA Direct, a company that offers confidential medical genetic tests direct to consumers via the Web. For more on DNA Direct, have a look at my interview with Lisa Lee, their Director of Content. I also met Lisa and Jason Bobe, Director of Business Development, last summer.
