DNA Test Points to Drunk Chauffeur in Princess Diana’s Death
The Times Online this morning is reporting that DNA tests on the blood samples from Princess Diana’s French driver Henri Paul show that he was DRUNK he was the DRUNK man driving the car and not someone else. French authorities decided to double check the DNA results because Mohamed Al Fayed, whose son Dodi died with the Princess of Wales in the car crash, insisted the blood samples had been switched as part of a conspiracy.
An investigation by the French authorities concluded in 1999 that Mr Paul caused the crash by driving too fast while drunk. A profile taken from Mr Paul’s blood samples was found to match his parents’ DNA, meaning they could not have been switched, a source told the BBC.

I find this story is misleading, because it makes it sound as though DNA tests alone can determine blood alcohol level, which it cannot. From my understanding, the DNA test was used to prove that the samples had not been tampered with, which then leads to the conclusion that Paul was drunk. But the DNA tests do not “show that he was DRUNK.”
Lula: Exactly!! Thank you for noticing that. All the newspaper stories have led with this DNA proves drunkenness nonsense which I hope the quote pulled clarified.
