Do time draining tasks all at once to save time

Some bigger tasks, or tasks that happen frequently can be accomplished in bulk – as in do more than the bare minimum, to save more time in the long run.

4 ideas…

Buy every single greeting card you’ll need all year, at one time. Make a list of all the birthdays and holidays you know of during the year, and spend one good afternoon choosing them all. Bonus points if you go sans cards and simply send digital greetings – not AS BIG a time saver, but no driving to the store and it’s a nice eco-friendly choice.

Make all the dinners for one week or one month (go you) on one weekend day. Chop, cook, freeze, wash all the pots, then just heat and eat.

Shop for all your groceries once a month. Only go in between big trips for fresh veggies and fruit.

Pay all your monthly bills one one day, not as they come. Pay online for even more time saving.

Shower for the whole week on Sunday – just kidding! Just making sure you’re awake :)

What other time consuming tasks can you do all at once to save time?

  4. Sandra - Illinois says:

My family room and laundry are both in the basement. I keep items together that need to go back and forth. I never take the steps without carrying whatever needs to go to the different level.

  5. Linda Lansford says:

I am an organized person. Never handle paper more than once, buy only what you need, and cook meals 3 at a time

  6. Courtney s says:

Great tips. I always set out my son’s school clothing for the week so we don’t have to rush in the mornings.

  7. Veronica Garrett says:

I only do laundry one day. I have one day to pay all of the bills. I only make one trip to the grocery a week. I use the internet as much as possible to save time. Great tips. I’m always looking for ways to save money and time.

  8. Tammy says:

I read blogs and fold my laundry at the same time, like now!

  9. Becky Grady says:

If I hit a good sale at the toy store, I buy for all the birthday parties my kids will get invited to.

  10. Jill Miller says:

In winter, when I make chili I will make a double batch. Since there are just two people in my family, this gives me enough for that night’s dinner, plus three more meals’ worth in the freezer! Tip: Freeze in the inexpensive Ziplock or Glad plastic tubs, and use a non-stick spray on them first to help remove the frozen product later.

Declutter…just the word invokes what has become my worst nightmare. Three steps forward, two steps back has been the mode of progress I’ve made this year in trying to control all the junk mail I get weekly. So much that I can’t even get through it in the course of one day so it has morphed into a box. I pick out the bills and promise to get to the others but I just don’t have the inclination.

  19. Heather C says:

What’s wrong with showering once a week?

    hee hee hee

  20. Donna K says:

  22. Suzie G says:

On Sundays I do all of our laundry. I know a lot of people find it overwhelming, but it’s easier for me to do load after load and just toss them all on the bed. Then at the enjd of the day I fold everything and put it all away at once. Clean clothes for the entire week!

  23. Lily Kwan says:

Please enter me into the contest. Thanks!

  24. ikkinlala says:

Thanks for the ideas (I can’t think of anything to add, really).

  25. Sarah H. says:

Brilliant ideas! I especially like the one about buying all your cards all at once…I have not thought of this and can see how it can be a time-saver and stress-reliever!

  26. Wanda Bergman says:

Great tips … especially the one about grocery shopping once a month. I tend to make waaayy too many trips to the grocery store.
