Do You Hibernate?

The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. The air is getting colder, and I just want to curl up and hibernate. I have a really hard time getting motivated to move during the winter, I struggle to keep myself moving and keep some kind of exercise routine.
To make it worse, I want to eat more. During the summer when there are tons of fresh fruits and vegetables around I tend to eat healthy. When fall and winter are here I struggle and crave everything non-healthy, and the holidays don’t help. All that delicious food, and tons of it.
I have a couple tricks I use to help keep myself on track. They don’t always work, but they help.
- I try to make sure I get some sunshine every day. I get outside, even if it’s only for a few minutes and enjoy the sunshine.
- I try to bring some of the outside in. I bring in some of my hanging baskets, and potted flowers to extend their blooming season in the sunny windows of the house.
- I also try to force a few bulbs to have blooms all through the winter.
- Even though it’s harder, I try to keep myself motivated to move and get some exercise several times a week.
Do you hibernate during the winter? What do you do to stay on track with your eating, and healthy habits?

I definitely hibernate. My husband claims I’m part plant. I suspect the kids have figured out mom is slower in the winter so they try and test their boundaries a bit more. One way I’m planning on trying to combat it this winter is with a full spectrum light I bought on sale this summer. Wish me luck!
