Do You Need a Treetent?

I saw this a couple weeks ago on the list of the 50 Greatest Travel Gadgets of 2008 at Vagabondish and I just had to talk about it. Introducing the Treetent …

Vagabondish called it “no doubt the most expensive and useless camping devise ever created” and I must agree. This is a 13-foot tall tent that hangs in a tree and comes with a price tag of $50,000.
Inside the tent, you will find a 9-foot diameter hardwood floor and a mattress that apparently sleeps two comfortably. It was created by Dutch sculptor and designer Dré Wapenaar, who Neiman Marcus says has “earned international fame for making the world’s coolest architectural tents.” Umm … I wouldn’t exactly call it cool. Stupid and ridiculous? Maybe.
If you love the Treetent and want to know more about it, visit NeimanMarcus.com or call 1.877.9NM.GIFT.
