Do You Need a Wellness Coach?

I’ve heard of workout partners and fitness trainers and personal chefs, but what about a wellness coach? I came across this Examiner article that discussed it, and thought it is really a good idea. A wellness coach would monitor and encourage all the healthy aspects of your life. Not just food or exercise, but stress and downtime. If you’re relaxing a bit too much, he or she would tell you that, and if you need to chill, they’d let you know that as well.

Studies have shown that support in general greatly helps with things like weight loss and managing diabetes. I know there are several professional people who could be wellness coaches, but with the economy what it is right now, would most of us be able to afford it? But what if you had a knowledgeable partner in your life to be your guide? Just having to “report” to someone can often make us think twice about choices.

If wellness coaches argue with your health insurance company for you, I’m going to sign up.

  2. Peggy – so true! Maybe some should start a company that does exactly that.
