It came at the perfect time--I am working on a paper from my Film as Rhetoric class on autism in film tonight. And, I just finished a discussion on the portrayal of Adam, an autistic four year-old believed to be a sociopath and murderer in the Canadian film Relative Fear. (A truly awful film.) These articles will work perfectly in my discussion to show how such portrayals of autistic individuals as unemotional murderers are based on misconceptions regarding autism and, in turn, reinforces those same misconceptions.
