Does Paris Hilton Have CFS?

Paris Hilton was released from prison (and subsequently sent back) due to a mysterious illness. We do know that she suffered pretty badly from stress, and broke out in hives due to her incarceration.
According to E Online (via Perez Hilton), a “friend” reported that Paris suffers from bouts of claustrophobia.
It’s not surprising to me that she was melting down because she was cooped up in a tiny cell 23 hours a day. When I heard that, I knew that would happen. I know her well enough to know she must have been flipping out. That’s what happens to her. She can’t breath, her heart races and she feels like she’s going to pass out! I knew it would be bad for her.
Her “friend” also reported on what had happened during a previous shopping excursion:
We were in the store, and she just starting saying, ‘I’ve got to get out of here. I’m going to nose dive!’ Her hands were shaking and she said she felt dizzy, like she was going to black out or something.
I have been in that situation, out shopping and then all of a sudden I need to leave or pass out. It’s quite common for me to feel like that. I DO NOT suffer from claustrophobia. Jail is very stressful for anyone. Can you imagine what it would be like for someone who has the lifestyle of a Hilton? We all know that stress can bring on the symptoms of illness. The kind of stress that Paris is experiencing right now, I am sure is quite foreign to her.
I know that it’s unlikely that Paris has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, what with her out clubbing almost every night…and not fast asleep by 6:30 pm. However, it does appear that her latest living situation has revealed some underlying medical issues.

You just haaaad to blog about Paris!
I’d freak out too if I was sent to jail, but I’m sure I’d adjust. She just has anxiety, which has a time limit because the adrenal glands can only run full tilt for so long. Give the girl a tranquilizer and hope she becomes human after this experience. It will make her stronger; whether we want a stronger Paris on the scene is another question entirely!
Sylvia,
I was just reporting on the news
They say Paris has a mysterious illness. And what is more mysterious than Chronic Fatigue Syndrome????
By the way I completely agree with you on the tranquilizer, and hoping that she becomes a better, stronger Paris…Paris 2.0
Sorry to burst your bubble, what she suffers from is whiney ass bitch who gets her way but now she cant do squat but cry and whine and have a temper tantrum. People in jail are there because they broke the law, so when you have to pay with something besides money it leaves her whining and moaning. Too bad the sheeple find they need to keep on about trivial people like her and avert their eyes from the reality of what is really going on . . .
Paris 2.0, LOL! The only mystery is why people care what happens to her. She might have turned out normal if no one paid any attention to her. Of course she’s still young–she may grow up. A few weeks without alcohol might do wonders for her.
Rubric,
You are right. Paris broke the law, and needs to pay for it, by serving her sentence in jail. I am not disputing that. I am sure the Hilton family did their best to pay for Paris’ freedom.
However, it is clear, that she is not doing well. I am not saying because she is ill, she should be set free…this is the reason why prisons have infirmaries.
All the media could tell the public, is that Paris has a mysterious illness. At least in my part of the world, we haven’t heard anything differently, yet. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is considered to be a medical mystery…that’s why I made the connection.
Whether Paris’ illness is real or made up, we can all decide for ourselves.
Sylvia,
AGREED!
I have no idea why any of us care about her. In fact, I had no idea who she even was until this whole thing happened.
Well, I knew of her, but only because of Perez Hilton. If it wasn’t for him and his site, I wouldn’t be able to spot a celebrity from 5 paces.
It’s only a mystery for reporters who aren’t familiar with anxiety disorder (or are pretending ignorance to spice up the story). All her symptoms are textbook.
(or are pretending ignorance to spice up the story)
which is why this story ended up on cfs squared
If you’re interested, this is a good synopsis of the Paris Hilton In Jail (or not) situation: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10876299.
I have to admit I’m interested, and it’s not because I like her. It’s because she irritates me. I hope she’s learning from her jail experience: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9977632. Time will tell.
My two cents on her mysterious condition: She was trying to fake a nervous breakdown, with her lawyer’s help. He got her a prescription that made her cry and shake etc. I came to this purely speculative conclusion two days ago, after reading and listening to all the hoopla.
I love that there are so many conspiracy theories surrounding Paris.
I honestly don’t think there was anything sketchy going on with her and her lawyer….I think she is genuinely scared, and its taken a toll on her.
But I am a little on the naive side when it comes to stuff like this. So you very may well be right.
Thanks of the links, I will be checking them out as soon as I can.
You might feel differently when you read that one of her MANY lawyers in this is the lawyer who helped get/keep Michael Jackson out of jail because of medical reasons. This is what started my whole conspiracy theory chain of thought…
A-HA!
You ARE right…I probably will feel differently. Those links are definitely on my to do list for this evening.
Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
The links at NPR are changing as the story changes. Here are links closer to what I’m referring to:

I can’t find the one that says her lawyer was M. Jackson’s, but his name is Richard Hudson and he was. Verified independently.
What a mess. I’m through with it now!
I’m sure her freak-out is genuine. I’ve never been incarcerated but I have been handcuffed briefly (just goofing around with friends–get your minds out of the gutter!) and I was surprised at the total panic I felt the instant they went on. Having your whole body confined and regimented as it is in jail would be infinitely worse, to say nothing of the social conditions in there.
Freedom is a primal human (and animal) need, and when it is violated it is hugely traumatic. She had more liberty than most people so it stands to reason she (like MJ) would freak out the most.
It does seem like she was genuinely under distress. This whole thing with Paris is so overblown, and has gotten sooo much media coverage, that (at least to me) it seems like even if the real truth came out, we won’t believe it.
Was the sheriff or the jail physicians on the Hilton payroll? Why would the doctors at the jail not be able to handle Paris’ “medical condition”. The jails are too crowded, but she didn’t have a cell mate…Its ever changing.
I believe that she just isn’t strong enough to handle the consequences of her actions, and this is what caused her emotional collapse.
Sylvia,
you know, eventually the story of you being handcuffed is going to have to come out sooner or later
Agreed. But it seems to me that now she should know she’s not strong enough to handle this particular consequence, and avoid it at all costs. As I said, time will tell. I do look to see her come out and do something worthwhile. I’m talking it will take a LONG time to tell–if she will stop DUI-ing etc., and if what she does after this is for real or for PR.
D’oh! I’d never make it as a celebrity. I should have gotten paid to tell all!
Sylvia,
if you won’t talk about the sordid details here. There is always http://postsecret.blogspot.com/
but know this, I always read it on sunday nights
Let’s hope Paris can turn things around for herself.
Maybe she should consider hanging out with a new circle of friends.
We would all love to be her and to have been born into such wealth. But since people weren’t they choose to be jealous and to hate. I think she knows who she is and is living her life. We can do no more. Look at yourself and live your life. And laugh at the paparazzi and the stupid media.
And listen to Paris’ music – it is good!
Godfather,
Thank you for contributing to the discussion.
Don’t you think that someone with the kind of celebrity and fortune that Paris Hilton has, should be contributing to the building of society, and not to its destruction.
Sure she is living her life, but not at all in a healthy way (of course this is my opinion only). But if one is sentenced to jail, for drunk driving…it doesn’t appear that she is living well…is she.
She has the potential to do great things. Celebrity and money are are powers in this world. A person can make a difference, without them…but change can happen a lot sooner with those qualities. Paris, like it or not is a big influence on today’s youth.
Perhaps she can learn from her mistakes…and make a positive contribution. We are all hoping that is the case. I don’t think anyone really wants to see this woman fail again.
I didn’t know that Paris Hilton is a musician. Does she have an album out? Is she planning on going on tour to promote it, now that she is out of jail?
