Does seeing a fat person make you uncomfortable?

Fat acceptance is definitely on the rise.  So I encourage you to check out Kelly Turner’s awesome post about the subject at Grounded Fitness

Then let me know what you think about the whole movement and your first impressions.

(To be honest, it’s still tough for me to see people without seeing their weights.  But it’s MY problem, not theirs.)

  2. This was a great article. I have a close friend who is fairly overweight, and we were discussing my ed (AN). She asked me point blank, “Does my being fat bother you? When you look at me do you think, ‘ugh, gross’”? I thought for a minute, and answered, “No, because my battle is not with you. It is with me.”

Which is absolutely, 100% true. I was made fun of enough as a kid for various reasons, so I know what it is like to me mocked and gossiped about and verbally spit upon. My MIL and Step FIL are both heavy set people, and all I care is that they take their meds and stay healthy.

Maybe this is just a different mindset than other people’s, but being made fun of early in life made me more compassionate towards others.
