Don’t Forget Labor Day Sales

For people who are planning to buy a big ticket item, checking out the many Labor Day sales that are happening this weekend is a smart idea. Typically, car dealers, mattress companies and appliance stores all have big sales to draw in customers who actually have a few days off so they can shop. Of course, with Cash for Clunkers just over and Cash for Appliances coming up this fall, mattress companies may be the only ones drawing a crowd!

If you do decide to hit Labor Day sales for some major purchases, make sure you get the best deal possible. A few things you’ll want to keep in mind:

  • Does another store price match with an additional percentage off for prices that are lower than their own?
  • Does one sale include extras that make it a better deal than another sale? (For example, some stores offer gift cards with purchases. Others offer free delivery.)
  • Can you use a card that gives you cash rewards to make your purchase and then pay the purchase off as soon as you get your statement?
