Don’t let your dog chew on bottles of glue!

There’s a lucky Newfoundland dog in Los Angeles – she got into a bottle of Gorilla Glue!

“Lola Bear’s owner, Vicki Troxel of Torrance, was unaware of the glue’s appeal to dogs when she used it Dec. 14 to repair Lola Bear’s kennel. In the middle of the job, she briefly left to answer the telephone.

“I came back and she had the (glue bottle) in her paws, (and was) chewing through the plastic bottle,” Troxel said.

She called a Gorilla Glue toll-free number, learned of the problem and immediately rushed Lola Bear to an emergency pet clinic”

The glue ended up reacting in the dog’s stomach and formed a mass the size of basket ball!  Lola only managed to snack on a third of the bottle, the glue is designed to expand when it comes into contact with moisture.  Luckily, the glue was removed safely and Lola is recovering nicely.

One of my dogs is a thief and will take the opportunity to snitch almost anything he can wrap his lips around.  Boy, what a lesson – you’ve got to dog-proof your house so carefully!

We have to be so careful to keep our dogs away from danger.

I have a funny holiday dog story to share.

To accommodate our Christmas tree, we pushed a couch up against the pass-through between the dining room and kitchen.

Guess what. I walked into the kitchen a few days ago to find one of our four dogs prancing, pretty as you please, all around our U-shaped kitchen counter.

He had already polished off half a (large!) tray of home baked Christmas cookies. As you can imagine, he was quite proud of himself – until I screamed!

At least there was nothing toxic. Sometimes ya just gotta laugh!
