Doodling Good for Memory

The older I get the more I tend to worry, just a little, about keeping my memory. Perhaps that is one reason I keep a journal. I read an article yesterday how doodling can help memory. All the time I thought the doodling I often engaged in was showing how distracted I really was. All this time it’s been an aid to remembering the details of all those boring phone calls. I tended to doodle instead of taking proper notes in school, too. I always wondered why I still managed to have such good recall later about those same notes. I tend to doodle on the corners of pages, even in my regular journal.
Do you doodle? Do you doodle in your journal? Do you keep a doodle journal? Will you make an effort to doodle while note taking or while on the phone? Please leave any comments in the section below.

Hi Heather,
For many years now i have been looking into the world of doodling and how it can be used as an educational tool for children and adults. My doodles can be seen on the back ground of the doodle day website and a very large doodle is also up for Auction on their site. The pictures i produce can help children and adults with their memory and can also help in certain levels of Autism, they also make the most amazing mind games for all age groups, male and female. The picture on the epilepsy website has been given to their charity + the copyright so they can license the picture out to bring in much needed money for their charity.I have also given them ‘the worlds first t-shirt game’ which i hope will be out sometime this year. If you stand back from the pictures, say 4-6ft, your own imagination will find your own pictures.Great fun!
Hi Michael,
Your doodle projects sound really fascinating. I’m amazed there’s so much more to the humble doodle than I realised. Thanks so much for sharing.
