Dorothy Hamill Undergoing Breast Cancer Treatment

Here’s another celebrity that is in the news this week but sort of in a delicate way because of cancer.
Who can forget former Olympic gold medalist, figure skater Dorothy Hamill? Even if the rest of the world doesn’t know her, America knows her very well.
She is such a public figure who one (or two?) months ago re-appeared in the eyes of the media telling us of her battle about eating disorder and depression. She came out skating once more and with a new book.
Now, in a statement yesterday, Dorothy Hamill is undergoing treatment for breast cancer at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
The prognosis is favorable, but the 51-year-old Hamill said she will miss some of the “Broadway on Ice” tour while she is having treatment. She hopes to rejoin the tour in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where the tour stops on Jan. 16-17.
Dorothy Hamill became America’s sweetheart when she won the figure skating gold medal in the 1976 Olympics.

I was Dorothy Hamill’s biggest fan when I was a little girl,I even got the hair cut in 5th grade. She is and always will be a true hero to me. Somebody kids and adults can look up to. Athletes nowadays are nothing like the true inspiration and dedication and clean cut as Dorothy Hamill is. I still have the two autograph pictures she mailed me along with the letters. Also my two Dorothy Hamill dolls still in the box. I admire her courage for writting her book about her battle with depression. I wish you the best Dorothy, get well soon.
