Drinkers Have Higher Risk of Cancer

What to believe about drinking? One minute a study says it’s good for you, and another study tells us it’s bad for us. Who to believe? The latest news I read was from Canadian researchers who “linked heavy consumption of beer and spirits to several cancers including esophageal, colon and lung cancers.” Heavy drinkers in their opinion were people that drank every day or several times a day.

The more you drank, the more your risk increased. Moderate drinking (less than daily) was found to have no effect on your risk of disease.
Whenever I hear conflicting studies like this, I like to go by the age old standard: moderation in everything you do. Nothing is off-limits if you really truly enjoy it. But be smart. Don’t overindulge. This study shows that drinking daily can damage some folks, to the point of a high risk of cancer. Sometimes excesses like drinking are done out of habit. Change your habit, change your risk.
