Dry eye disease, which causes “dryness, itching or burning sensation in the eyes” is more common in women. However, about four percent of men over age fifty will also get the disease. It is one of the more common reasons men will go to see their eye doctor.

About “1.68 million men over age 50 in the United States” have dry eye disease, which can also feel as if there is sand or dirt in the eye.
