A new study has shown that infection in mom triggers more premature births than doctors thought.
In the study, researchers tested the amniotic fluid of 113 women who went on to have premature babies. The results showed that 15% had infections, more than they had thought would be. As a result, the lead researcher said women should all be tested around week 15 of their pregnancy for infection and treated with antibiotics if an infection is present.
